This was our first week of school and it went great! We read Genesis chapters 1-10 and went through the creation of the earth. Here is an idea of our daily schedule:
We start with Bible devotions and reading our daily proverb; they then do their math; their history and Bible is through Tapestry of Grace; Geography, writing and then reading. We also, started a Bible timeline and have strung it across the wall.  Julianna is starting Kindergarten this year, which is really cute, so this week we focused on the letter A. On Friday's we have our pretend co-op day (since our co-op was canceled)  where we focus on: Bible; Science; Latin and Greek Root words; IEW (a writing program where another family comes over and does it with us); Tapestry history projects and Fun things!
Our first field trip is in September to Conner Prairie. Other field trips this year: Tuttle Orchards; Creation Museum; Children's Museum. We also have four unit celebrations scheduled where we will showcase the children's work, other homeschool families will participate as well and we will invite others to celebrate with us to encourage the kids.
The picture above was taken this Friday when the kids made a salt map diagram of the world showing it's, core, crust, etc. Jenavieve was napping at this time and the two extra children are friends that joined in on the projects. As well as this project, they also went out back and measured Noah's Ark, 450 feet by 75 feet, it gave a nice visual.
Well, keep us in your prayers and may God Bless you.

Summer 2014

This summer has been filled with adventures, so many blessings and lots of 'first's'. Every since I was a little girl I had  dreamt of going to New York (well, when I was young my dream was to live there, that has since changed) and this summer we did just that! We ate lunch at the famous Katz's Deli having a verity of pickles and pastrami, it was a fun environment. God opened an opportunity for us to spend one whole day there. He went above anything we could have imagined, providing us with a tour guide who took us through Manhattan and giving us a incredible suite in New Jersey that cost less than dinner for our family! I am so Grateful to the Lord for this blessing.
After our visit in New York we headed to DC for two weeks where we were again blessed by our cousin Steve and his hospitality. He was our personal tour guide with a wealth of history for the kids and for us. Steve introduced us to Iranian cuisine, gazpacho (amazing), and I was really enjoyed all of his meals. We all had our favorite moments of DC and mine was just taking everything in, I LOVED the history coming to life.
On our way home from DC we spent time in Pennsylvania were we had sweet fellowship with our friends Sandra and Dave. She made us a authentic African meal, we were so grateful and it was exciting to try it.  We also had a chance to reconnect with family which was wonderful. While visiting their house we experienced Fireflies (they call them lighting bugs here)!!! Once again God never ceases to amaze me with His Glory. For a brief moment He brought the stars down for us to catch, and in those moments I was like my children running around laughing, catching the flickering lights in my hand and in awe of God's creation.
When we headed back we went straight into VBS for the week. It was a blessing to be a part of the VBS at Horizon. They stayed focused on the truth of God's word in their teaching and I enjoyed watching how well they organized everything. Friday VBS ended and Saturday we took a train to Chicago with 20 others from church.
We arrived in Chicago and ate a Chicago style pizza (it is different, the sauce is on top), we then took a cab to the Navy Pier, walked down to Michigan Ave and then had a Chicago Dog (Yummy!) and took another cab back to the train station.
Besides going to all of the new places and enjoying all of the new food, here are some of our first's that the kids still treasure. Metro train from NJ to NY, Subway, city Metro buss, riding the Amtrak and the taxi.
We are back in Indy for a while now enjoying life here and staying busy with church, home fellowship, Mary Kay, friends, school, starting a co-op with homeschool, soccer, sewing, and the list goes on.
Blessings to you

Memorial Weekend in Indy

My mom and Tom flew in Friday night for a weekend adventure with the family.  Their adventure started right when they arrived at the hotel around 10:30 pm with all of us waiting there for them. Julianna and Jenavieve had their overnight bags packed for their sleepover with grandma and grandpa. They were so excited! Julianna would say "I get the best sleepover, I get to sleep with grandma!" and Jenavieve would chime in, " I'm going to sleep with grandpa!" So, the girls spent the night and the rest of us SLEPT IN the next morning until 9:30! It was amazing. Once all of us finally got us and ready we then went to the hotel and picked up the rest of our group (who woke up earlier that morning).
Our first stop of the day was Steak N Shake to eat of course and after that we drove downtown to the Indianapolis Children's Museum where we saw the Terra Cotta Warriors.  It is the only appearance in the US in 2014 on loan from the Chinese government. Before going into the exhibit we watched a skit about the warriors which included a man dressed as a  warrior. The warrior coming to life and moving terrified Jenavieve (keep in mind we hadn't made it to the exhibit). At home Jenavieve naps with a blanket Nana made her and she gets it when she is scared or sad as well so she was in tears and asking for her blanket. Not having her blanket, grandma and grandpa ran to the gift shop and bought her the closest thing which was a princess cape. The exhibit was amazing (to all but Jenavieve), they of course made it kid friendly with activities for the kids and lots of artifacts and reading for adults. They had a section where we all got to make our own mini clay warriors, the museum had a goal of making 1000 mini warriors. All of the kids and adults enjoyed this activity. The Emperors warriors were amazing to see in person, they are huge! It was interesting as well to see the other things made to surround him in his burial site such as a water park area with lots of birds.
After the children's museum we drove around downtown and went to the canal. We walked down the canal walk which was pretty and we rode paddle boats which the kids loved. The night ended by going to eat at a Japanese restaurant.
The next day we were all scattered, the two little girls went to a friends house, and Jocelyn went to a friends house for the day. The rest of us headed to the Indy 500! It was spectacular, the first hour we all took in as much as possible with our eyes being in awe of the size of the event. The first half was exciting, then it seemed long to my mom and I and right when we were a little tired of sitting in the hot sun, there was only 33 laps left. At that point we were standing and yelling, cheering on our drivers!  It was non stop excitement till the checkered flag was waved. It was so much fun and now we all (except mom) want to go again next year!
The next day we celebrated Memorial Day and stayed around the house. We had a yummy bbq and ended the night setting off fireworks! Real Big Ones! Arron, Tom and Arron Jr were like kids in a candy store when they went to the fireworks store. When we got ready to set them off, we all felt like we were going to get in trouble like we were doing something wrong, but it is legal here! After our fabulous firework fun we gave hugs goodbye and some tears were shed. We are so thankful and
